SELAH, WA - With wet weather giving way to warm days, families are getting ready to take to the barbecue, hit the poolside, plan their summer vacation, and generally enjoy summer’s bounty. And while Rainier Fruit is still busy with apples and pears they are getting counting the days until the start of cherry season as well as organic blueberry season. Despite the hard work in the orchards and the packing shed, the staff is also getting ready to redouble its Wholesome to the Core campaign—encouraging healthy habits and sponsoring events that celebrate family fun.

Although our focus is on growing healthy fruits, we also want to help people live their best lives through all-around healthy living,” said Andy Tudor, Vice President of Business Development. “In the past we’ve sponsored events like the Boston Marathon and Wanderlust, and this year we’re excited to announce our partnership with Kids Obstacle Challenge.”

Noting the success and rapid growth of events like Tough Mudder and Spartan Race, Andy told me that Kids Obstacle Challenge offers a distinctly family-friendly addition to the world of the fitness-focused challenge.

“What makes the Kids Obstacle Challenge unique is the fact that this is an event focused on kids. But also, not just for kids, it also encourages parents to participate with their kids and get muddy together,” Andy said. “There’s so much research that shows that when parents and kids participate in events together, the whole family lives a happier, healthier lifestyle. Our participation in the Kids Obstacle Challenge supports that idea of families doing things together, and to kick off this partnership, we are working with a local teen that’s connected with the Rainier family of employees on a video series and Summer Bucket List Challenge inspired by the message of the Kids Obstacle Challenge to Brave Your Adventure.”

While Rainier Fruit knows that not all families can participate in events like the Kids Obstacle Challenge, Andy tells me that the company hopes to inspire families throughout North America to find their own ways to get active and live healthier lives. Most importantly Rainier Fruit is excited to get better connected with the people enjoying the company’s exceptional fruit and hearing their stories about how they live Wholesome to the Core.

“We know that every family won’t be able to get to an event, but they can go for a bike ride in their neighborhood, explore a new park, fly a kite, or host a neighborhood scavenger hunt,” Andy added. “When you are focused on farming and all the aspects of growing, caring for, harvesting, and selling fruit it can be hard to have meaningful conversations with consumers. We are excited to explore new partnerships, content tools, and events that get us closer to the consumers that make our job as fruit growers possible.”
