Red Sun Farms' Harold Paivarinta Discusses Company Focus Before Southern Exposure

KINGSVILLE, ON - This year is going by so quickly: can you believe that Southeast Produce Council’s (SEPC) Southern Exposure is only next week? To gear us up for the big event, I had the pleasure of speaking with Harold Paivarinta, Senior Director and Head of Sales for North America, Red Sun Farms, to learn about the company's focus going into the show.

Harold Paivarinta, Senior Director and Head of Sales for North America, Red Sun Farms“Southern Exposure is setting the standard for events that deliver excellent retailer connections, great networking opportunities, as well as fantastic education and information sessions, and a really fun social environment,” said Harold. “The venue and location is very popular with our partners and it gives us the capability to really highlight some of our best products.”

These best products include its snacking tomato, Sweetpops, which received fantastic feedback on the flavor, quality, and packaging after it was unveiled at last year’s PMA Fresh Summit. At this year’s show, Harold teases the launch of a brand new product—although he’s careful not to say too much—which ties into the company’s key show message: being an organization that sets the bar in terms of quality, innovation, and service.

“Today, especially with new shoppers, individuals are looking for brands that they can trust to deliver quality and flavor, every time they purchase their product,” said Harold. “This what Red Sun Farms stands for, as our Seed to Plate approach insures the very best in all our products, from all our locations. We control all aspects of the supply chain from seed selection to delivery, so not only are we providing a better product, we are providing the very best in service, thus alleviating the daily stress from our retail partners.”

In order to support its retail partners further, Red Sun established core pillars that are at the heart of everything it does: Accountability, Collaboration, Trust, and Innovation.

“All of the critical duties are performed by a team of experts at Red Sun Farms with laser focus on the needs of both the retailer and the end consumer,” Harold explained.

With its greenhouses and distribution centers strategically located in all three North American countries and year-round availability on both commoditized items and specialty products. Red Sun Farms is committed on delivering the promises of its core values.

“Our team members are the very best in their fields, so they embrace and thrive in today’s competitive greenhouse climate. They bring years of experience from many different industries,” Harold told me. “Our collective goal is exceeding the expectation of our retail partners, but also recognizing trends and developing products for the future.”
