<p style="text-indent:0px; line-height:12px;"><span style="font-weight:bold;line-height:130%">Carlisle, PA</span><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">By Eric Anderson<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">4.2.13</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Six new Ahold USA stores have been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, marking the largest fleet of LEED-certified stores among grocery retailers within the United States.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The stores feature white roofs to reflect sunlight and reduce heat gain, skylights to distribute daylight and reduce electricity consumption, and LED lighting throughout the store. Smaller cooling systems are improving the efficiency of refrigerated display cases and open deck refrigerated cases have been replaced with closed door ones.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img class="small-cropped-image" src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacySmallCroppedImages/ahold040213body.jpg" alt="images040213" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“We congratulate and commend Ahold for their leadership as a LEED Volume partner.
