WENATCHEE, WA - Mother’s Day is coming up, and what better maternal figure to give some love to than Mother Nature, the woman at the heart of our industry. Paying tribute to her and all her creatures, Stemilt is reflecting on the one-year anniversary of receiving its Bee Friendly Farming® (BFF) Certification through Pollinator Partnerships.
As AndNowUKnow previously shared, the grower earned the distinction last April after meeting rigorous criteria in order to support its ongoing commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
Overall, Stemilt has planted over 400 acres of native wildflowers, bee forage, and made fresh water accessible to meet the standard of having 3 percent of the company’s owned acreage as a habitat for pollinators.
Through this certification, Stemilt has devoted itself to protecting, promoting, and preserving the health of bees and other key pollinators such as butterflies and birds. By implementing the cover crops necessary for certification, the grower has helped sustain the life and wellbeing of its local bees while working in harmony with Mother Nature to produce its World Famous Fruit.
Cheers to Stemilt and its team for the work it’s doing to protect the land we hold so dear!
