<p>Tesco is improving the customer checkout experience with the launch of a <B>new, high-speed retail checkout solution</b> that scans items in <B>60 seconds</b>. Each unit allows three shoppers to pack and pay at the same time, using innovative imaging technology to automatically scan products placed on a conveyor belt, according to a press release. Four units at the new Tesco Extra 24-hour store in Lincoln, U.K. are the first Tesco to pilot the solution.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Could this be a sign of the latest trend in retail technology? </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/tesco_051914bdy.jpg" alt="cropped_image_051614" /></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><b>Meijer</b> recently introduced shoppers to the <B>next generation in grocery checkout</b> at its Jenison store in Michigan. Shoppers simply place merchandise on a conveyor belt, where a <b>scanner made up of 17 cameras scans the products</b> and sends them on their way to one of three collection areas for bagging. Cashiers are stationed at registers nearby to help assist shoppers with any questions or issues. Meijer is currently evaluating the data to see how feasible the system could be at other locations.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href=" http://www.andnowuknow.com/buyside-news/meijer-experiments-new-checkout-technology/11356/christofer-oberst " target="_new" class="btn"> Click here to read our previous article on Meijer’s new grocery checkout.</a><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><iframe class="vine-embed" src="https://vine.co/v/MX12t7LiuBg/embed/simple" width="480" height="480" frameborder="0"></iframe></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><script async src="//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script><p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">For Tesco, there are four checkouts that enable three shoppers each, to pack and pay at the same time.
