PROVIDENCE, RI - United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) is on an expansion streak. After announcing it was acquiring new stores and investing in remodels last week, the distributor has opened its latest refrigerated distribution center in Londonderry, New Hampshire, to increase its ability to serve customers and support its growth in the Northeast.
“The New England region is a vital and thriving marketplace, and the opening of our new Londonderry facility acts as a complement to our other regional distribution centers enhancing our ability to deliver improved service levels for our customers,” said Mark Bushway, Chief Supply Chain Officer. “Londonderry strengthens our supply chain and helps deliver UNFI’s differentiated value proposition that helps our customers grow and thrive.”
Measuring 125,000 square feet, the facility will help UNFI expand its refrigerated capacity, a release stated. The new distribution center will also relieve pressure on the company’s Chesterfield, New Hampshire, and Dayville, Connecticut, facilities while also helping facilitate customer growth in the New England market.
UNFI’s new facility completed its first outbound shipments to customers on Monday, October 3.
