The company is anticipating increased volumes over last year and will have a complete Nature’s Partner program of blueberries from the Southern Hemisphere to offer customers. Giumarra International Berry has a well-established grower network that includes Chile and Argentina, among others. Blueberries from the Southern Hemisphere are slated to arrive as early as mid-November by air and will continue through to the start of the U.S. season in April. Giumarra will also see increased volumes of USDA Certified Organic blueberry supplies from Chile.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Consumption is driving up demand in the blueberry category and Giumarra is offering popular larger pack sizes that include 12 and 18 oz. clamshells. Retailers may promote berries as a category by displaying them all together in a large, refrigerated display to maintain product quality. The health benefits of being an antioxidant-rich superfood aren’t the only claim to fame for blueberries. They are also a versatile fruit and consumers are receptive to usage ideas beyond fruit mixes and salad creations. Blueberries can be cross merchandised with nuts, granola, yogurt, and other breakfast items, as well as baking ingredients, cheese pairing options, and cocktail components.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Retailers can take advantage of this special time of year with a bountiful Chilean-themed display presenting wine and fresh produce items from Chile. During the winter season, Giumarra also supplies avocados, grapes, stone fruit, and cherries from Chile to ensure retailers are adequately supplied with the freshest quality produce throughout the holidays.
