PLANT CITY, FL - With 150 acres of Pink-A-Boo® Pineberries in Santa Maria, Oxnard, and Salinas, California, Wish Farms is ready to rock the produce aisle with the arrival of this specialty variety across the United States and Canada. The company is teasing higher volumes this season throughout May and June as we inch closer toward the peak of summer.
“The rollout to date has greatly exceeded my expectations,” said Owner and Chief Executive Officer Gary Wishnatzki. “We continue to build traction, as consumer excitement and retail demand have been very positive. Everyone is trying to get their hands on them. It really is the new celebrity of the produce department.”
The University of Florida originally developed this variety and named it “Pearl,” a press release explained. Marketing the berry under the playful Pink-A-Boo brand, Wish Farms is growing commercial volume on the West Coast and has made a heavy investment in promotion and education.
TikTok’s top six posts featuring Pink-A-Boos just reached over 16.5 million viewers, further proving the star power behind this variety. Additionally, the hashtags #PinkABoo, #pineberries, #whitestrawberry, and #whitestrawberries have over 36.9 million views. The berries have also been featured on television news segments in major markets across the U.S.
Turning a pink blush when ripe, Pink-A-Boo pineberries have a strawberry flavor with essences of pineapple, pear, and apricot and a lower relative acidity than traditional red strawberries. The pineberry also touts the non-GMO label, which is sure to attract additional register rings.
With strong supplies coming down the pike, you can bet that Pink-A-Boo Pineberries will draw shoppers to the produce aisle as they take to social media and share a punnet or two with friends.
