BLANDON, PA - What do mushrooms and Jalapeños have in common? They both pack a heavy punch when stuffed, and now both can be found under the innovative roof of Giorgio Fresh.
“We’re debuting our Stuffed Jalapeños, available in Cheese and Imitation Bacon varieties, which offer a bold, snackable option perfect for game day or entertaining,” shares Bryan Shelton, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, as we catch up on plans for the rapidly approaching IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show.
The leap is an intuitive one, as the company has been simultaneously rolling out convenient and delicious stuffed mushroom offerings that can deck everything from the holiday spread to the game-day table.
“We’ll also be highlighting our newest innovations designed to bring excitement and ease to the mushroom category. This includes our expanded stuffed mushroom lineup, Savory Sauté Kits, and Creamy Mushroom Toppers. In addition, our Mushroom Grill Kits—featuring three flavors, Steakhouse Seasoning, Brown Sugar Bourbon, and Smoked Honey Habanero—give consumers an effortless way to take mushrooms to the grill,” Bryan explains.
Well established in the mushroom category, Bryan shares how Giorgio is committed to helping retailers grow the category by offering products that truly meet consumer needs.
“Our packaging is designed with both the consumer and retailer in mind. Microwaveable trays for stuffed mushrooms and Jalapeños make preparation quick and simple, while the bold, colorful labels on our Sauté Kits and Grill Kits ensure strong visibility in produce,” Bryan points out.
Giorgio also sees merchandising opportunities in pairing mushrooms with items like fresh proteins and pasta, creating natural meal solutions. Secondary displays for events like holiday entertaining, game-day or hosting spreads, or grilling season, help drive discovery and incremental sales.
“From stuffed Jalapeños to three-flavor grill kits and our versatile toppers, we’re broadening the ways shoppers can enjoy mushrooms and inspiring new occasions,” Bryan states. “At IFPA, we look forward to showing how this portfolio can help elevate produce departments and keep mushrooms top of mind for today’s shoppers.”
It is a crescendo fit for a year over which Giorgio bent much of its creative energy on expanding the role of mushrooms in everyday meals and entertaining.
“The launch of our Hot N’ Spicy stuffed mushrooms and stuffed Jalapeños tapped into consumer demand for bolder flavors, while our grill kits resonated during the summer season by offering effortless, flavorful options for outdoor cooking,” Bryan concludes. “As we head into the holidays, we’re focused on positioning mushrooms as versatile—from appetizers to sides—and making them a centerpiece for seasonal celebrations.”
