SAN FRANCISCO, CA - United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) has a new partner in Samsara as it looks to achieve new sustainability progress with its delivery fleet.
“The safety, efficiency, and sustainability improvements UNFI will make with Samsara will help us change our business for the better. A core part of UNFI’s customer and supplier-centric strategy is continuous improvement and better efficiency,” said Gregory Tieder, Senior Director of Corporate Logistics.
Through this partnership, UNFI has adopted Samsara Vehicle Telematics, Asset Gateways, Environmental Monitors, and Video-Based Safety.
As a press release outlined, the majority of UNFI’s direct emissions are from its fleet, and by the end of its fiscal year 2030, the company has a goal to sharply reduce Scope 1 and 3 emissions from transportation.
To make this possible, UNFI developed an electric vehicle (EV) blueprint, covering multiple California distribution centers and fleets, to better understand where EVs can benefit its operations. It is also using technology like Samsara Vehicle Telematics to improve customer deliveries and reduce fuel-wasting behaviors.
"UNFI operates 24/7 to meet the needs of our customers. They expect on-time deliveries despite poor weather, heavy traffic, and other challenges we face on the road. High-quality service creates complexity, but we won’t compromise on safety. Samsara helps us to reliably deliver for our customers while also strengthening our safety practices,” said Tieder.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Feeling valued by your company is a key to employee and business success. That The Wonderful Company stands by this commitment was made apparent when it was named one of Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For®, ranking 91st on the list.
“The people of Wonderful are at the heart of our company,” said Lynda and Stewart Resnick, Co-Owners and Vice-Chairman and Chairman, respectively. “They bring our culture to life, show up for each other every day, promote a supportive and inclusive environment, and strive to give back. They are among the many reasons we invest so deeply in our employees and the communities where they live and work. We’ve always known we have a wonderful workplace, and it is an honor to see it recognized.”
A company release explained that earning a spot on this list came down to the input of Wonderful employees who completed confidential surveys attesting to the company’s culture, leadership, and relationship with its workers.
Wonderful was also recently named to Fast Company’s 2023 Brands That Matter for providing free, quality health care to its workforce, local students, and their families.
