HOUSTON, TX - Fresh produce access was just boosted as the 31st annual Halliburton Charity Golf Tournament (HCGT) teed off for a good cause in the Lone Star State. National nonprofit Brighter Bites scored a generous $50,600 donation from the event, held earlier this month at the Clubs of Kingwood in Houston, Texas. The tournament brought together golfers, sponsors, and philanthropic leaders to support various charitable organizations across the U.S.
"We are incredibly grateful to Halliburton and the participants and sponsors of the Charity Golf Tournament for this substantial donation. These funds will have a tremendous impact on our ability to continue to serve the Houston community with access to fresh produce and nutrition education," shared Rich Dachman, Chief Executive Officer, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the donation.
Building on this sentiment, the HCGT, which serves as the central fundraising event of the Halliburton Charitable Foundation, carefully selects beneficiaries based on plans to make substantial impacts through major capital expenditures or special community programs.
Brighter Bites stood out as a worthy recipient due to its specific audience reach and demonstrated impact.
"The Halliburton Charity Golf Tournament exemplifies our commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and operate. The impactful work from charities like Brighter Bites significantly enhances the well-being of the communities we serve," stated Jeff Miller, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Halliburton, highlighting the significance of the event.
The success of this year's event builds upon last year's tournament, which set a record by raising more than $3.8 million, according to the press release. With renewed enthusiasm, this year's tournament aimed to break records again, with funds raised benefiting over 100 charities nationwide in 2024.
